Genesyz / Genesys split charge system (Devon 4x4)

Anyone using this on a Disco3?

I had one on a Defender and it was very good.

Fitted to a Disco3 and get odd results.

It can reset itself when you switch off high drain appliances such as aux lighting, heated seats or just the headed windscreen. I think the voltage drops from the alternator with its wide operating voltage cause the split charge system to reset as it creates the same voltage conditions as switching the engine off. Eg. a drop to below 13.5 Volts or so.

Incidentally I noted a charging voltage of 15.3V when the vehicle was idling. Is this normal and how does an Optima battery cope with this? I've got a red top as the vehicle battery and yellow for aux.

In a D3 this is normal I think. It's also the reason why the Optima batteries are so suitable as they allow for charging at this voltage unlike most other batteries.

I have a genesys and 4 optima yellow tops and have no issues . Maybe the alternator is faulty or the unit itself .

Optimas are rated up to 16 v iirc

Had mine in for close to 2 years and never had the charge voltage go over 14.0.
