Readers' Top Tips
Can't be bothered with reaching those LR spare fuses behind the wiring looms?
Don't bother reading the book to identify them correctly.
Just swap out any one and be treated to bong fiesta and flashing warning lights when moving the car thereafter.
What I thought was the fog lamp was in fact the brake switch/brake light one.... Time flies like an arrow; fruit flies like a banana

Same problem, the whole array of fault messages appear when the following procedure is undertaken:
Start up, engine stone cold
Outside temperature Zero or below
Drive downhill (!!!) 150 m
All the Christmas lights come on after 30 seconds when on the flat
Switch engine off, wait, start : all OK
I hvae had this same procedure ever since it became cold in October.
It never hapens if I take the other way out going up hill or when its warmer tha zero degrees.
Could there be both a temperature sensor and a HDC trigger that starts the procedure?
I get HDC system fault, engine system fault and eventually park brake fault coming up. Suspension goes hard. Tonga Green D3 TDV6 HSE Manual

TSB No.LA303-005 could provide the answer. Needs a software upgrade.
As is often the case, self-diagnosis based on the symptoms will often result in laying blame at the wrong bit of the car!
A software issue appears to occur between the exhaust gas recirculation flow rate and mass air flow readings. Incorrect engine torque signals are passed to various elements of the chassis system. The computer then takes over, bongs, provides a lovely array of coloured lights and drops the suspension to access height....along with messages of doom.

i had the latest software installed by our dealer yesterday. They tested it, directly out of the heated workshop of course, and all seemed OK. "Phone you tomorrow - she needs a cold night to show her agression" I commented. 12 degrees C below today. Nice and easy start, there never has been a problem with turning the engine and it fires instantly. Down my steep hill, on to the flat through a couple of turns and blong, all the usual warnings lights are there again starting with HDC system fault, engine system fault etc......three minutes is what it normally takes. The moans from my son in the passenger seat were´nt too bad as the seat heating had been fixed by the dealer during the same visit.
Back to square one: the cold weather and steep down hill triggers it - nothing else. I have had, however, the occasional "Suspension fault" message on its own when the wheel travel has been stretched.
I´ll try again: is there a cold weather sensor linked in some way to the HDC system? Tonga Green D3 TDV6 HSE Manual

As your problem is so predictable, maybe you could talk your dealer into lending you a similar car, and see if it gets the same problem. If it does, it proves a likely software bug, if its fine it likely proves a fault with your vehicle.

Just got mine back again after first visit, new compressor, then replacment height senson and last visit software download 7/3/06. Driving along two days later and suspension failure. bumpy, unstable ride for about 10 seconds then reset itself. Never done this before so must have been the latest software update. Will send it back again!
