busaboy, oh yes indeed they are needed...................EGR is a good piece of kit when working well, but when it gets sooted up the power loss, economy reduces. Its a gradual process and you won't notice, get them blanked and whoosh, the D3 is alive and more economical once it breathes again on cold air only.
I did this on my TD5 and it was like another motor, pick up was great and got quite a few more miles to the tank. However canny do it to the D3 quite yet as the warrenty will be invalid, but once out of warrenty within hours they are sooooooooooooooooooooo blanked.

Someone did a group buy on these, I would try there first. If not I can get a few copies hand made for a price (including a donation of course)

Shiny Moose, I would also appreciate a pair if possible please, (Euro 111 engine).
My fuel consumpion was down a little 2 weeks ago when carrying a heavier than usual load but has continued to drop since. I do not know whether this is down to an EGR problem but having read the threads blanking seems worthwhile.
