If I were driven by greed then I'd probably do the same Paul . I just find all of this 'praise Hamilton' the British champion all a bit rich. Even after tax he probably earns in one race what the vast majority wouldn't come even close to earning in a lifetime...at least have the balls to stay and pay your dues FFS
Anyway I can see that I am causing unrest with the other tax dodgers ...so I'd better shut my trap now 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Spare us the sanctimonious stuff DG.
We are ALL driven by greed to some degree or other. Some of us simply choose to work harder for the privilege than others
I happen to think that Hamilton (and his family) have earned most of it. As someone with a keen motorsport interest, I know just how hard it must have been to get to where he is at 23. Not to mention the financial heartache which must have been endured for years along the way.
What is it with people in this country who see success as something to berate and take a cheap stab at?
It's been said often that all are born equal, but some may be more equal than others. Last year I paid more in tax than I had earned in previous years - and for WHAT? Do you think it is unfair for people to enjoy the fruits of their labour in favour of those who hold their hands out in a system that encourages this?
I don't have a problem with paying tax, but by the same token, when paying more than our fair share, I see no problem being efficient in the way we do it. Can you tell me exactly why I should pay more than someone else - often for less in return? The older I get, the more I realise that people confuse wrinkles for wisdom

As a rule the more you pay the less likely you are to benefit relative to your income. I'm more in favour of the leave me with more cash, let me buy my services school of thought.I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

Anyone that has ever filled the back of a D3 with cheap wine in Calais, or filled there fuel tank before the ferry, is the same as Lewis Hamilton living in Switzerland. Its tax efficiency, just on a much grander scale in LH's case.

Non sequiter Rich. F1 being a joke as a sport doesn't mean that the drivers aren't hugely talented individuals who risk everything from a young age. It's the governing body that has dyson tendencies. They suck.I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

At Least spell it right ND
Look he's obviously a talented chap and I do genuinely applaud that ...and congratulate him on his win. That part I have no problem with...but that is where the line is drawn for me. I am quite clearly in the minority in my view ...but as easy as it is to attack those that are percieved to take from the state ..it should be as easy to attack those who don't give.
Perhaps the answer is to abolish all tax 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

There is your error DG.
Hamilton will still pay more tax (in one way or another) than the rest of us put together. To suggest he doesn't 'give' is plainly short sighted and, dare I say, distinctly left-wing The older I get, the more I realise that people confuse wrinkles for wisdom

Eh I'm not asking him to pay any more than is relevant to his earnings ..and if I'm reading Paul's post correctly he won't pay on earnings unless he pegs it ...and that will only be on whats left at that time.
Lets get one thing straight ...you might have what you perceive to be an interpretation on where my politics lie ...but on the basis of what you would like to interpret from what you know of my employment...they are clearly mistaken .
I only expect people to pay proportionately on their income as I do and have done for the last 25 years...no more ..no less 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021
