Yep, if you use PAYG then it needs to send a text periodically to remain active, the frequency is network dependent

I have the Quantek GSM Dialer its ok but the slot that takes the sim card is a bit , you have to be very careful when inserting the card as it can fall inside and its a bit of a t**t to fish it back out again. The reception is obviously network dependent but I can have a half decent reception on the mobile(phone and GSM dialer on 02) but when I ring the car to activate the FBH I sometimes get the "its not been possible to connect your call" gag. It does come with an aerial but I'm looking for a booster or an aerial that I could possibly mount somewhere other than under the bonnet. If the T91 has been confirmed as a working option I would swap my setup for this. Club Exped trailer

Thats exactly what I'm talking about Iain, obviously being sandwhiched between the ABS unit and the Yellow Top with a side order of two tonne bonnet is having a detrimental effect on reception. What did you use to extend the aerial? Club Exped trailer

I've found a coax cable that is from an old hands free install complete with a panorama antenna but it has a female connector on each end so I'm looking for a male end or a male/female adapter. You still on for tomorrow? Club Exped trailer

Found a new tip today. I know it's guaranteed 'cos this has worked twice
If you're sat in a shop carpark waiting for the missus to pick up a few items with it 1C outside and the engine off to save fuel/soot, it soon starts to get chilly.
I had the key at pos 1 to keep the kiddies DVD player going (much quieter that way ) and thought I better start the engine to warm things up again; I turned the key to pos 2 and waited for the self test to finish, then glanced at the Timer. I hit the fire now button for the hell of it...and it worked!
It seems that with the key at position 2, as long as it's cold enough outside for the heater to be working under the car's control once the engine was started, then it won't send the "stop" message to shut the heater down. I left the car un-started with the key at pos 2 and had hot air blowing into the car for a full 40 minutes.
Nice.
'course if my battery hadn't been utterly and fully charged in advance, there's no way it would have started again with all those Amps flowing from the FBH and all the vehicle powered up for 40 minutes...and I went on a nice 40 minute drive afterwards to replenish the battery. Still, it was better than idling the engine and much much cheaper in fuel. Note that I kept the stereo off to save power.
Hmmmm, second battery is starting to look less optional than mandatory Dr. Ian Malcolm:
"Yeah, but your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should."
Transgenic tomato anyone?
