17" tyres

This may be a daft question but....
I am going to put a set of mixed use all-terrain tyres on to LR D3 17" rims. From the forum advice, the only available are Cooper STs. What is the exact size etc that I should ask for?
Thanks, BP
PS it is for mixed use in a field / smallholding and the school run etc. 18" Pirellis back on for hols etc.

The STTs some of us have got are 245/70, slightly oversize from the standard 235/70 that comes on the 17" wheels but they don't cause any probems. Non Stick Nick has the STs so he should be able to confirm the size. If you have a look on here you can calculate what effect the different size will have on speed readings which is very minimal

Regarding different overall tyre and wheel sizes altering the speedo readings etc. Can anyone confirm that the calibration button on sat nav equipped discos will adjust both the speedo and trip counter / odometer etc by using the gps recorded speed and distance at a comparison and reference ??? It does mention using it after tyre changes on the screen !!!

Sorry to all owners without sat nav, as if it can be done, it's not much use to you guys busy swapping tyres......

Cheers, Nick
