Super extended mode again?

Again? Yes as I can not get my G4 in Super extended mode. Yes I read the other posts.

I go to off-road hight.
Put a axle stand under the chassis.
Lower it to normal but then the D3 goes to extended mode and gives the warning like move away from the obstacle before lowering it again.

If I then put my foot on the Brake and push the height control up. The D3 goes down and wants to select off-road height but goes back to extended because the axle stand is still there.
It doesn't go higher then the normal extended mode. Measured distance between tyre and fender.

I tried it also with rockcrawl and other special programms selected.

Any idea's what I do wrong?
Will super extended mode be mentioned in the message centre?

ATS guy put mine straight into superextended mode while they changed 4 tyres. I was not allowed in the workshop and didn't see this, but noticed the hazards were flashing from start to finish. Only realised what he had done when he had p Censored d off in his van, and I could hardly get into the D3! The lass left behind didn't even understand my question, let alone answer it Rolling Eyes .

Must get back to him and ask what he did...

I had the reason for the hazards plus the tail-gate open, I think it could be any door, explained to me when I had the tyres changed on mine. Apparently a memo came round on how to jack them up, all 4 wheels at a time, the reason for the hazards and open door is that it tells the car the wheels are being changed, they found this out the hard way on a RRS, they tried it normally and when they lowered the jacks the RRS followed them all the way down and they couldn't get the jacks out from under the vehicle for half an hour until the car had decided that it needed to raise itself Rolling Eyes The guy did say the RRS driver was a bit miffed as he was in a rush Rolling with laughter

I thought this could only be invoked by traction control kicking in and wheels going 'light' as if the car is grounded?

Maybe only then can you invoke the super-extended setting?

The rear hatch can be open while you change height. Only the passenger doors will disable the height change.

Never heard of the rear hatch & hazards trick before.

If you have the car in reverse and the rear hatch open the system assumes you are changing a puncture.

If you don't have the hatch open, it will go looking for the ground when you get "beached" on the jack, I know this cause I saw it and had to start again... Rolling Eyes

Makes sense, I always reverse when I have a flat tyre in the vein hope it will put the air back in and remove the offending nail / thorn I just drove over Thumbs Up

Reverse on manual... assuming this would be P in an auto.

This is what happened to me while changing the tyre last weekend... The car was off, in Park, with the front right wheel braced, and I lifted from the frame.

I think maybe I'll try the flashers next time! Also one of my friends jumped the gun and started the jacking before I could put on the EPB and turn off the car (although it was in P), so I'm thinking perhaps this confused the car into thinking it was beached.

On the plus side, friends were mightily impressed with the articulation Thumbs Up

It should go into super extended after you have fooled it into going to extended.

Did you wait the five seconds with the brake on before pressing the supension up switch?

I too have been having the same issues as Roel. I'll try waiting 5 seconds with the brake on and see if this does work.

No - it didn't work. Followed the steps as indicated by Roel (and having the hazard lights on) and waited at least 5 seconds before pressing and hold the suspension switch up.
What I also noticed is that the height I achieved with the extended mode on subsequent trials was that the height gained actually decreased - on one (last) occassion I had to use the jack to remove the axle stand Shocked
Any advice? Question
