Lower front ball joints
Just had second service done and been told both front lower ball joints need replacing. The car has only done 12000 miles and I find this unacceptable. Has anybody else had a similar problem.
I have also read somewhere that there are new updated bigger ball joints now available, will these be the ones fitted under warranty? Any thoughts, info or advice would be appreciated.MY17 D5 1st Edition Namib Orange

New ones are available.
I would point out that new ones are available to your dealer and insist on the new ones being fitted - i will this week when i book mine in for its 45k service.

I cant see why you find it unacceptable Russell
Yes the car has only done 12k, but Land Rover have identified a design problem, produced new parts to rectify, and your dealer has said that they need to fit them. I presume this will all be under warranty as your car is 2007 and still in warranty.
Yes, it makes a change for LR to admit to something, redesign it so it works and the have parts in stock to fit. EPB next ?

I had mine done at around 30,000 miles. It was picked up when in for service. All done under cost to LR. There are a lot of threads on it on here, do a search, it's a common item. The balljoints not the search

Its not the fact that they are being replaced at LR cost but the thought that I may well be paying for them to be done every 12000 miles when the warranty runs out MY17 D5 1st Edition Namib Orange

Strange ... I've done 109k miles in my D3 since new [running wide Stormers for half that time].
And I've never had mine replaced to-date and all is still well with steering geometry.

Thats why they have re-designed them. Just had some of the old part no ones installed under warranty. Armed with the knowledge of the re-design I will be claiming new ones after warranty runs out anyway.“There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€
