Engine System Fault - Transient(?) error message
Just after receiving my new disco I had this message on the display in front of the steeering wheel. It disappeared briefly after I switched off and re-started, then recurred and stayed with me for 170 miles. I then had to leave the car un-driven for 36 hours. Since then there has been no recurrence of the error message.
Initially when it first appeared I phoned the dealer who wasn't too sure of the problem but suggested seeing how it went as I needed to drive north. In the event that seems to have been the right thing to do or was it?
Can anyone advise me if I should now 'let sleeping dogs lie' or should I take it to the dealer?Zambezi Silver SE / Ebony Leather

Some faults can be like Microsofts software, once seen then disappear

I also had the same message flash up - engine system fault - after only fifty miles, in fact I was lucky to see the message because it only lasted a couple of seconds and occured whilst scrolling through the display options. Needless to say it hasn't re-ocurred and there is no obvious problem with the car and I 'm still smiing.
To be honest if I hadn't read the stories on here it wouldn't have concerned me.Some say the glass is half full. Others that it is half empty. I say 'Are you drinking that?"
ricric. odd though it may seem in the early days you do get the odd message that you will never see again, sort of like the ecu is getting used to the idea of working for the first time. I was told by the techy at the dealership ( now judged to be part of my problems) that with a fibre optic loom where there can be up to 20 different sensors sending messages at the same time you will get "little hic-ups"

Thanks to all of you for the somewhat encouraging comments. I did note the advice and drove relatively sedately but not always below 50mph. I had little to judge engine perfomance by but all seemed okay.
Since that first day, I haven't had any problems. So, here's hoping....Zambezi Silver SE / Ebony Leather
