That's the other bit I'm looking into Rob. Am awaiting a reponse from them in Aus.......
As for Group fit round my place, can only get three vehicles on the drive, so would be a bit of a squeeze if everyone came round...... Bodsys Brake Bible

Nah, Neighbours would be cool with it. In fact, they'd fit 6 on their drive, so that would do... Bodsys Brake Bible

If you use the search there are a lot of posts about the pros/cons and possibilities, but in my view the answers to your questions would be:
where are these fitted,
The Disco has a battery tray both sides, and depending on the market the main battery is located on the passenger side always. The drivers side area then has the brake servo in that area and space for a smaller than standard second battery. Like this:
how are they fitted
Battery just sits in, then you can get hold of the standard landrover bracket for this side, remember in other markets where wheel is on the wrong side the main battery goes here, so bracket is a standard land rover part.
You can either buy the bracket separately (I emailed Nick aka the large one on prices earlier) or you buy the kit that Bodsey is looking to a group buy on that has the bracket already.
do they replace the power to my 12v sockets...
Only if you rewire your 12v sockets to the second battery.
does the battery get recharged when im driving
Yes, but you either need a basic relay (cheap, easy, not as elegant) or a controller to manage the charge so that the second battery is only joined to the first and the alternator when the engine is running. This is so when parked you can run accessories without draining your main battery you need to start the car.
Its worth noting the battery enough is not enough, you need to add additional wiring and a controller/relay to make it all work OR look for someone who offers these services, possibly on the forum, possibly in this thread further up offering the good price on the battery...
will the fitting of this screw with my warrenty
Pass. Landrover don't endorse dual batteries. But they do fit them on G4 models with winches I bet. Its easy to remove if you have to take the car in, but to be honest unless you wire it up backwards and cause damage I doubt the dealer will view it that way. Of course, anything most dealers can get out of they sometimes do...
I am sure more experienced (two weeks so far!) owners can me would be able to comment...Disco3 is now gone but not forgotten. Waiting for Disco6 with full aluminium construction weight reduction and hybrid engine...

About that Bracket...
Swapped a few emails with Nick (aka The Large One @ Yeovil), assuming this group buy for such a great price goes ahead, if people want the official Land Rover bracket for the empty side (offside/drivers side on a RHD) to fit their optima, the cost for the bracket and two bolts is about the same as a pint of Guinness.
After a small email debate we are pretty sure the PN is YFJ500100 but if anyone could confirm this I would feel better so I can further divide the blame if its the wrong side!
Can people indicate if they want the LR bracket, I can count takers. If there is quite a few it may make sense to post in bulk from Nick to someone, then distribute with the batteries. I could start a new group buy for just the bracket but this seems a bit overkill to me, on the assumption that less people will want the bracket than the battery and there are not that many signed up at the moment for the battery?Disco3 is now gone but not forgotten. Thanks Paul for your update and for the TLO input. I've modified the signup above & will add Bracket Only as another option in a minute.
Just waiting from TFC to know how he wants it processed. Bodsys Brake Bible

D n!
Came across this group buy looking for something else (now what did I come upstairs for....?)
Had to click; is this a form of clicktomania?
Tech. Question - Will these function well as main batteries in a Defender? Our 2 rescue team 110s sit about for ages, drive short distances and then get hammered by radio / winch / work-lights. The last batch of deep discharge yellow batteries (??name) lasted no longer than our current Halfords cheapies which we replace (all 4) every 6 months The Team might go for 2 as aux. or possibly 4 (or none - they're a little allergic to expensive yellow batteries... )2006 D3 finally swapped for a 2016 D4 Graphite in Graphite grey. No mods

As I understand it, if you don't keep them charged up & then expect them to keep in top performance when winching etc, then they're unlikely to last for too long. Soemthing about soemthign deteriorating, but i got a bit lost.......
Same for all batteries. Maybe a red top would be better for your main battery cranking needs? (but not as deep cycle as yellow)Bodsys Brake Bible

@Andrew W - its not clicktomania. its barginitus...
I think as primary batteries they recommend the red top.
Have you thought about other solutions to the problem, like a small solar panel on the roof (assuming they are parked outside) or a trickle charger hooked up?
Just don't forget to unplug before you go racing off to an emergency...
Might be worth considering an isolator as well, as I am sure the defender has a residual drain like any other vehicle. An isolator to disconnect the battery (but not the solar panel!) may help stop drain as well.
@GDL - Great thanks
Nick did say he would take full responsibility of course, I have the email somewhere, no where was it... Disco3 is now gone but not forgotten. Waiting for Disco6 with full aluminium construction weight reduction and hybrid engine...

I am interested ...
btw G4 D3s do NOT have 2nd battery as standard
but I have 2 of us looking .. .maybe a 3rd !
would be interested in getting charging / batt mgt also sorted!
I can see where that battery goes now
batt mgt needs to handle winches!
??
only minor prob is that am located in Germany but guess wont be too much of an issue with this lot°!
