Ron, just read this on the SLROC forum if you're still thinking of doing the Killin road - it's just some details of the route:
SLROC wrote:
Drive North through Killin to Bridge of Lochay (just North of Killin). Turn left (West) just past hotel.
Go West along Glen Lochay to Kenknock. Turn right (North). Carry on North to Lebreoch power station (end of Loch Lyon). Go east and follow road to Bridge of Balgie.
Turn South and follow road to the Mountain Rescue post and Visitor's Centre. (toilets!!). Carry on South till you come to main road (A827).
Turn West (right) along A827 back to Killin.

Thanks Chris, reckon I already got this one logged.
But I'll print and study just in case of any differencies.

Hmm it's maybe not worth asking the DISCO3 Courier Service to do your home removal then 2007 Porsche Boxster (987) 2.7

Ron there's a SLROC Green Road day starting at Killin on the Sunday 1st June and going down to the south of Loch Tay - looks like you'll leave just too early for that
If the FL1 plans come together we'll be going along to some of these shortly. Just trying to get the insurance down from 2k at the moment... 2007 Porsche Boxster (987) 2.7

Checked out the route you mentioned earlier.
Not got an Os no51, but on my ipaq OS map 1:250,000, there is no road shown between Kenknock and Loch Lyon!!!
I've pm'd Tim to ask, but still awaiting response.
Any idea????

Hi Ron. The road exists although IIRC it is marked as private. No matter, I've been over it several times in road cars. It's (mostly) tarmac with lots of pot-holes and a few hairpin bends and narrow stretches with steep(ish) sides. The road comes back onto the main Pubil - Bridge of Balgie road past the Megernie Estates at the Loch Lyon Dam. There is a gate at the Loch Lyon side but I've never seen it locked. A nice round trip from Killin to Pubil to Bridge of Balgie to Lawers then back to Killin.
If the gate were to be locked, it's theoretically possible to drive over the dam to get round it and I've often wanted to do this in a disco. Too many sheep watching me though......
BTW, you won't want to be speeding towards Bridge of Balgie as there are lots of take-off opportunities there, even for a D3
I remember when SWMBO was 17 and hadn't passed her test, I let her drive my Vauxhall Cavalier over that 'unmarked' road since there was no chance of meeting pc plod on it. The older I get, the more I realise that people confuse wrinkles for wisdom
