I have to say that, with my last LC100 Sahara...which required all new rear LED lights, two electric
adjusting steering column motors and a new GPS/Stereo system due to "dying" for some reason....Toyota
gave me 100% instant service.....and parts from Acacia Ridge or Melbourne pronto.
If I'm unlucky with the D3, I hope the service is as quick.....but I doubt it Caver 
Many have waited some while for parts ie. air bags ,diffs , turbo.
My replacement tailgate spooler was 3 weeks ...... makes you think.
I would like to hope that increased sales will see increased parts inventory....but I don't believe it

You were obviously had a good dealer for the Tojo. A few owners have told me they had to fight for warrany fix.
LR parts can be an issue but dealer has always said "we'll fix that under warranty, we've ordered the parts"
Steering wheel had to be ordered from UK but still took only a week.
Generally I would say the Toyota dealer network is better in the bush and parts are usually available quicker, but the Toyota marketing relies on buyers dreams of going bush rather than reality.

Never had a warrenty issue with my old Toyota, HJ75 only been to dealer twice in 22 years, first was to pick it up brand new, second was the free first service, then serviced my self for the past 22 years, some parts have needed replacement but they are consumeable things like battery, brake pads, exaust system, mayby its unusual for this good a run with a 4x4 that gets a hard life as my work horse. But I would be confident with a good pre trip work over to take it on any long bush trip, only drawback is its rough ride, and slow going.
Never the less the D3s comfort and ability makes it the best vechle I have had.

I think the HJ75 ute with a turbo
would be the ideal boys toy......tough as teak, good to
shoot out of, good in the bush and can carry a load.

Yes, At the moment the mods are, Arb bull bar, winch, top shelf, uhf, greasable spring shackles, HD springs,
No turbo but extractors and big exaust, wide mud tyres.
The future list, arb front and rear diff locks, comfortable seats  dual battery,
Although its my work vechle its also a project, all be it a slow one.
Best of all you can have some real fun and not break it 
So you hit the nail on the head, its on the way to being a big boys toy, as well as being a 4wd that my son can use as well

We wiil spend a couple of days at my mates property
near Tottenham (80ks North of Condobolin) next week
Hes got a 2001 model and three older HJ75 utes
ones hes bought from the mines at Parkes for about $4000
They just keep on going, probably hardly ever get serviced....great truck Pete

As much as I love the D3 it would have to be the single most annoying vehicle to go spotlighting in. All the "bongs", "bings" and lights doing their own thing is not stealthy!!! Give me low tech anyday.
