Buying advice 2013 D4

Hi all,

Looking for some advice and have been looking for a disco for some time.
I’ve seen this disco for sale and looks like it might be a good buy.

Here is the ad - https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202409304676047

Speaking to owner it’s been serviced annually but at the local garage.
The MOT looks fairly clean.
Front and rear suspension arms have been done recently and has almost new Pirelli scorpion tires all round.

It does need and oil service, cambelt/s changing and I guess ideally diffs, transfer case and transmission.

The problem is have is I have put down a deposit on a 62 plate HSE which has had the belts done, both inlet manifolds done, oil service, full JLR service history, new discs and pads fairly new tires and done 5k miles left. It also has a warranty and breakdown cover included

My heart is saying to go with the 62 plate HSE but I’m wondering if the 63 plate is a bargain. I’m more than capable of doing all the work and not fussed by trim level.

Any advice is appreciated.

whichever one it is still a Discovery same capabilities

main things which are must are belts, suspension arms if it was towing (rears especially ) and transmission oil which is not cheap to do

Service history is (almost) everything.

I'd want to see it and understand who did the work, LR specialist hopefully.

Other than that if you are capable of doing the work as you say your eye will be better on the spot than mine remotely.

Those are both ten plus years old and will need attention as any car that age will.

Good luck and enjoy whichever you go for, you'll find this forum invaluable and informative on topics you didn't know you wanted informing about too!

Thanks guys, I think I’ll go with the 62 plate then.
The HSE has no tow bar and only had 2 owners.
The JLR service history recently had all the diffs transfer case, all filters and more changed from what I can see online.
Underneath it looked very tidy, not much surface corrosion and everything looked dry.
Not sure if it’s anything to worry about but the front tires were Pirelli scorpions and the rears were Goodyear wranglers.

BUT…. what was the frequency/schedule of the servicing?!
And I would argue that anyone who runs multiple brands of tires is cheaping out on maintenance…

I wouldn’t say a Pirelli and a Goodyear is cheaping out on servicing..

Could just be doing 2 at a time to swap to the other brand.
