Aftermarket metal intake manifolds |
|
Hi,
Has anyone ever tried aluminium intake manifolds for the 3L?
Found some on the bay of e. (not sure if i can post the link?)
I've got the restricted performance error, looking deeper there is a split in the left intake manifold. Thinking of ordering these as a long term fix.
They seem to be slightly different design to the original crappy plastic ones as there are extra bolts on the top of the aluminium ones like they are made in two halfs.
Might bite the bullet and get some as OEM plastic ones seem to be in very short supply at the moment.
Will keep this thread updated.

Very interesting - particularly as I’m about to swap mine out. However, there is no mention of who makes them, so I will contact the seller for more info

I am about to do mine. I have not got them yet and thought this was interesting…….but at that price i will not bother. Mine have lasted eight years and over 330k miles so i see those as a waste of money.

Just seen this on FB
Inlet manifolds… who is waiting for one? I made one phone call and have purchased a genuine LR manifold for £287 delivered.
They have 10 left hand and 10 right hand units on the shelf in stock.
Not exactly sure why everyone is struggling to get one…?!?
Not sure if I’m allowed to say where to buy it as I dont want to turn this into a sales post.

RIGHT HAND

The original part number of LR029145 has been superseded with LR179200, I have also confirmed this with JLR.
They also do the washers and breather pipe LR013531. .

I understand that oem ones last x number of years, but in my mind intake manifolds shouldn't be a consumable part on any engine waiting to break.
I've convinced myself that I am going to dip into my disco rainy day fund and try these metal ones out.

Maybe someone should give LR Time a nudge to review the aluminium ones!

Good spot Pete,
I think I would prefer the protection of ordering through eBay rather than aliexpress, as i'd imagine they would care abit more of their reputation, plus paying through paypal gives an extra layer too.
I'd also like to see LR time review these but they like to keep everything OEM and not use aftermarket parts.

Unless I’m misreading, the eBay Aluminium price is on a par with OEM if doing both sides, but not if just one? Maybe not advisable to mix?
As for Aliexpress, just remember there may be duty & Vat to be added on import - I’ve previously brought in parts from Japan and Parcelforce kindly add a fee for collecting the fees that are due. 2014 Discovery 4 HSE

Yeah not a fan of hidden fees, sketchy website, long shipping times etc
Was planning on doing both at the same time anyway as 1 has already cracked, i'd imagine that the otherside probably isn't far behind. Hoping to lift the body up 100mm just to give extra finger room to make the job a little easier as heard it is a pain if you have stuck injectors.
I've got my heart set on the ebay ones so will be ordering and will write a review once I recieve them
Currently chatting to the seller and seeing if he can do some discount.
