Anyone tried this?

In the absence of pre-heater functionality... has anyone tried opening / starting their disco3 with one key then locking with the other?... just a thought... on the one hand it'll give you a toasty car to drive and prevent the TWOC'ers from getting maximum kudos, on the other, it might just send the Disco3 into a right snit... Anyone brave enough? (with the LRA number programed into the phonebook) Laughing Laughing

You know what'll happen....

The doors will lock, the engine will stay running, you won't be able to unlock them again, you'll call LRA, your bluetooth link will be active, the bloke from LRA on the other end of the phone will wonder why the caller sounds like he's shouting at him from behind a closed window, assume it's a prank call and hang up Wink

What we need to do is induce BN's fantom window performance every time we set the pre-heater. That way with the window going up and down, the D3 will stay awake and remember to turn the heater on first thing in the morning. It may also have the advantage of breaking a few arms off oppurtunist thiefs who stick their hands in to loot the vehicle (even better if they stick their heads in to have a look at why the radio is on...)

just started it , turned up the wick on the heater dials, locked it (with the spare key) and came back in 20 mins. Unlockded and drove away.

Always did this with both the omega's and didn't give it another thought .. Only did it once though as I got the car on 20th April and it wasn't that cold for that long....

I tried it this morning before reading this. Started with one key, tried to lock with the other. It did not lock.

Well there's gotta be a better use than turning the headlights on and off or making the suspension go up and down (think most do this at whim anyaway Wink ) with that "third-button".

I'm off to Maplin... will report back... "must remember warranty, must remember warranty, must remember warranty".... OK maybe not.

Idea I wonder how effective a couple of infra-red patio heaters with plug- in timers would be.... 8)

Apparently, there a few aftermarket auto-starters available that plug into the Aux on some of the alarm systems. Variable timers built in and all that.

Dont suppose anybody knows what alarm is fitted to D3s? Mind you, I'm guessing that any possible option for enhancement has been well-and-truely terminated by LR. Cf Fuel Burning Heaters.

It's a thought.

Ok truth - wouldnt it be fun to have the auto lights turning on and the engine starting remotely? Even more fun with Adaptives. Bit like that 70's horror movie "The Car". Endless fun in a car park.

I should get out more.... Crying or Very sad

You can do that on a Toyota, apparently.

It would be far too sensible to actually do.
