The EGR valves run through open and closing cycles on shut down.
Also the turbo vvt, but that is with later software.

Yeah. Mine sometimes does something similar. It sounds like an electrical buzzing and comes from just below the radio, which is not related to the EGR shut-down exercise. It sometimes keeps on buzzing until the vehicle goes to sleep.
I put it down to a modern version of the old Land Rover truism that the designers started with a rattle and built a vehicle around it! Previously:

Internal noises: the external air vent closes. (Unless you were in recycle mode already)
