Fitted: Latest LR spare wheel Winch D4 with AdBlue tank

So,

My spare wheel winch gave up last weekend and after some investigation I found that because mine is a 2016 car, it’s a Euro 6 with the AdBlue tank inside the spare wheel area under the car.

So, the difference is that the wheel is held upside down compared to previous cars and you get a wheel protector disc that the winch end latches into. See photo below.

I bought a new unit (part. LR 093370) and when it arrived I noticed it’s been modified by Land Rover to prevent spare wheel theft. There’s an extra metal cage that the spare wheel protector goes up into.

As you can see from the photo of the 2 units side by side the change is apparent.

It was no harder to fit and I didn’t need to undo the AdBlue tank to wiggle it past. It’s a
Squeeze but all went fine.

Happy to answer questions

Hi.
I am very inexperienced and have not found it at all straightforward to get the new winch past the ad-blu tank and the long down-pointing bolts. I got the old one off and found that they have slightly different angles on them.
A question: I bought this 2016 model recently, and then found out that the wheel had been stolen. The dealer kindly sourced me a wheel and new winch, at no cost to me. Assuming I am able to get the new winch into place, will I be able to attach the wheel or do I also have to get that wheel protector?

I have just realised that I have an aftermarket one, with no number on it. Is that likely to be the problem, anyone?
Thanks.

The winch actually attaches to the protector not the wheel so yes, you will need the protector.
A visitor from the dark side, my other vehicle is an is still an EV. Strictly speaking its SWMBO.

Great! Just a little more expense...
Thanks.

Does anyone know if the non-LR winch (which is way cheaper) actually fits? It looks like the AdBlue tank will have to off to fit this one, which will be a huge waste of effort if it doesn't then fit.
