I always think that too about the stats on the adverts!

I asked a friend in market research why 'odd' numbers and they said they do it while the responses are favourable and when the stats start to decline out of their favour they cut it off there.

In that example it may well have been 77% positive from 229 people but if the next 71 people asked were all negative, all of a sudden your positive rating has shrunk to around 59%.

Lies, damn lies and statistics....... Wink

Likewise, I'd like to see the .9 dropped from petrol/diesel prices. It's done, obviously, to make the price appear to be less. It's annoying.

How many lives shattered. How much blood will spill, until everybody does what they were always going to have to do from the very beginning: SIT DOWN AND TALK!"

Hugh, absolutely agree on "electrocuted" as that is how I've always understood it.

However ...

electrocute
verb

past tense: electrocuted; past participle: electrocuted

injure or kill (someone) by electric shock.

And i still remember it being given as the reason I got a replacement microwave from Comet in Bournemouth, around 1984 when I'd dropped the glass turntable after getting a shock touching the frame.

Strangely, the replacement also shocked me until I checked the plug socket and found the earth wasn't connected Whistle

Grating words and phrases

I've got loads, of which these are a few;

Upskill or train?
Downplay or play down?
Breaks and breaking or brakes and braking?
Rightsize or cut jobs?
Loose, loosing or lose, losing?
Disinterested or uninterested?
Could of, would of, should of.

But my current bugbear is "have a nice rest of your day!"
