Roe Buck Vs a Disco3
Hello,
During Easter week end, I was driving on a narrow road in France next to Fontainebleau (South East of Paris)
It was dack around 2 am, I was doing around 50 mph.
After 5 hours of car with my wife and daughter, I was around 2 miles from arriving to my house.
In the bush, Mr Roe Buck decided to see how strong was the Disco3 against it own head.
Mr Roe Deer start to cross the road 1 or 2 yards in front of my car.
I hit him.
Stop the car,
Saw that that Mr Roe Deer is not well.
My wife wants to go home.
Next morning I saw that:
I have lost the thing which is around the fog light. I went back there to try to find it but I have never found it
The little plastic thing which are holding the fog light are all broken (where the screws are).
My wheel arch is also broken and I cannot keep it fixed. It seems that the click is also broken.
Does anyone know what I can do?
Do I need to change the whole fog light, or can I only replace the holding plastic things?
Can I buy the little round plastic cover alone?
I have not phone my insurance company because I have been told that it was not covered because it was a wild animal + the fact that I did not reported to the Police at the time. FYI i am insured with Royalsun Alliance
Recently I have been told that I could report it.
Can you help me with those 2 issues?
Mr Roe Deer was not dead the following morning but he was laying down on the side of the road. He was not going to go anywhere.
I decided to stop his pain.
Conclusio:
A front bumper/fog light are stronger than a roe buck head.
Thanks for your helpArno

Interesting. Can't answer your questions, but I had to throw out an anchor the other night to avoid hitting a deer - wasn't sure the damage it might cause. I hit a pheasant once in my D2 which cracked the windscreen
I never know what you're supposed to do if you do hit an animal. Scoop it up and take it to the vets, call the RSPCA, call the plod, reverse over it (rabbit/bird etc)?2020 SDV6 D5 HSE, Carpathian Grey +

No problem claiming for Accidental Damage caused by hitting an animal (domestic or otherwise) - will be subject to your standard Excess though and would affect your NCD.2013 D4 HSE Luxe in Indus Silver

Thanks for your answer...
If it have a impact on the NCD I will keep it shut then.
I am sure I can solve this myself...
Worse case I will see how much it could cost to the dealer to repair.Arno

With deer are you not supposed to tell plod - are they still under Royal protection etc etc ??

It happened in france.
Therefore no Royal Protection. In the UK it is the staf which is under the Royal Protection (I think...)
As you said, very nice meat that I was cut and put some in the freezer!. (Even if it is not allowed I have been told!)Arno

@ lafona00
I would report it to the insurance company and tell them you are fixing yourself or making a claim.
