Cannot turn off Follow Me Home lights for MY08?

G'day everybody,

I had my MY08 TdvSE in with the dealers to have the sinking seat fixed and I asked them to change some of the custom settings at the same time - I only have the basic stereo and so do not have access to changing the custom settings myself.

I asked for the Follow Me Home lights to be turned off.

Dealer came back and said that they cannot turn off this feature and can only set the timing to the shortest possible (30 secs, I think).

I find this really hard to believe and I am wondering if the dealers' mechanics have been sniffing diesel fumes again? Rolling Eyes

Can anybody confirm this?

Cheers

Can't recall if there is a setting for off or not... but if you are finding the lights annoying by staying on at switch off, just remember to turn off your lights before the engine.

The manual should list the settings anyway even though you may not have the option to do so.

You can turn them off manually straight away with the key fob set appropriately for headlight activation \ de-activation. Wink

..but ISTR that you can't turn them off from any settings Neutral

I can turn them off using the settings menu on my MY05, has this been changed on newer models?

You're right Slimer... Embarassed It's a long time since I looked at headlamp delay, but I thought there was a 00 sec option. I like having the lights stay on, but do use the key fob to turn them off if necessary.

If your lights are turned off before the engine is stopped
the FMH doesn't activate on locking vehicle......or if you
forget , and turn off engine first ,use fob as DG said.
Don't get it deactivated....you never know when it comes
in handy.
It's an excellent feature for illuminating pathways
when visiting unfamiliar houses.

Thanks for your feedback, everybody.

I am aware that I can turn it off by either turning the ignition on and off or flicking the light switch on and off but this kind of defeats the purpose of having the Auto light setting.

Oh well, I guess I will have to learn to love it... Crying or Very sad Mr. Green

Cheers

You can try to love it but I hope the shouts of...

'Oi, you've left your lights on mate'

Don't make it too difficult!!

If you forget to turn lights off before ignition off then follow me lights are turned of by flicking the main headlight switch as far as park lights and then off. Kills em dead!

I got this shouted at me at some traffic lights once in my Volvo (permanent dim-dipped headlights).

I shouted back that I couldn't turn them off.

"then you shouldn't be allowed to drive then!" came the angry reply Shocked
 Dr. Ian Malcolm:
"Yeah, but your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should."
Transgenic tomato anyone?
