Get it booked, we’ve really enjoyed NY and will be back. We were lucky, we arrived Fri night with a holiday Monday so it was a gentle introduction with light traffic so buses worked great for us. Now it’s busier we’re surfing the Subway, something we were a bit concerned about. We’re on foot most of today to see the last couple of things in midtown, then it’s back to hotel to pack up and check out.
Re going up to crown if SoL, those tickets were booked up. Not too unhappy as it’s a tight double helix to get up then down, I think fear of small spaces would have trumped heights!

Yes, didn’t go to the museum though. We got there just as the barriers were removed so virtually nobody at the site. The few peeps that were there were lost in their own thoughts and it was prob the only place on our travels where nobody was taking selfies. It was difficult to relate the “footprints” to the towers but we’d seen some pics recently and that reminded us just how massive they were. It was deffo a must visit place for us.

Its very thought provoking but if you get a chance, the museum is definitely worth visiting. Incredibly poignant.

It's very sobering.
The words "AND HER UNBORN CHILD" after a name on the memorial was poignant for me. I simply hadn't thought about the fact that expectant mothers were amongst the nearly 3,000 people who lost here lives there, until I visited it. 2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

Waiting patiently for our overnight train to Chicago. No inclination to go wandering around outside as it’s really busy and piddling down.
Pics from earlier today walking around. The Flatiron (pronounced Flat-i-ron in our family’s speak) and Empire States Building, sadly no King Kong nor biplanes buzzing around the top.

Glad we went up the One World Plaza, SWMBO described ESB as “just another boring 1920s office block”!! She was not impressed! And yes, the weather was mingie then. It’s our fault, everybody always says it was dry right up to the day we arrived!

Looking forward to food pics from the train and, as we’ll be in Chicago for a few days, deep fried pizza. Again, another reinvention of a classic name by SWMBO.

Greetings from a snowy Chicago. Luckily just a light dusting, not the weather bomb type show they had a few weeks ago. Will bung some pics up later but for now here’s the snowy view out of our room on the 27th floor of our hotel.

Few pics from Chicago. Took the overnight Lakeshore Limited train from NY to here, was a good trip but didn’t see anything of the lakes as it was dark and we were asleep! Gratuitous pic of loco, well one of the two. Obviously they’d heard about the food we’d been eating!

Yours truly lounging in the restaurant car. Food was reasonably good, paid for and hot.

Hotel in Chicago is good (upgraded to a corner suite), on Magnificent Mile and up on the 27th floor. It’s also on the main EMS route and boy those ambulances are noisy. And not on strike! Building bit like a mini Empire State Building with cute mural.

Walk around the Navy Pier area, great view of the skyline, complete with Blackhawk in 2nd pic.

And back to food. This is a medium deep fried pan pizza from local Lou Malnati pizza place. It looks a bit of a mess but it was seriously tastie!

And as this pizza was meant to do 3 peeps, it did us 2 days c/o hotel’s empty minibar fridge.

Few random pics. Wrigley Field, we were told by the doorman it’s famous. ISTR it’s a place for baseball, which is kind of like rounders but with more expensive merch.

Nice. I'm due in Chicago in April. It'll be a bit warmer then.
A good trip is the architecture boat tour. It's amazing what you see from the river. The US Postal building is pretty impressive. D4 HSE EU6 (Known as Jeeves)
