Sad day
The mayor of London has forced me to sell my discovery3
I've loved this car it's done me well over the past 4 years without a single problem apart from the radio although it's worked well for the past year.
If it wasn't for the ulez coming into place later in the year i would have kept it for a few more years. I'm not alone in having to do this there a lot of good cars in London that will be sold in the next few months that don't meet the emissions levels.
I hope to meet the mayor in a dark alley so i can tell him exactly what I think of him and his tax on ordinary working people,I certainly won't vote for him in any future elections.
So I'm sorry to leave the discovery community and wish everyone good luck in the future.
Many thanks for everything
Barnetman

Sorry to hear that ,
But me I just couldn't ,I would deify the shmuck and if enough people stand up to bullies like him and force him out of office the country would be a place to be proud of , this is the UK not feckin Russia or China ,
Things in the country need to change sooner the better we need a government who can actually govern and govern for the people of this once Great country .

I was reading a short article the other day where he was quoted as saying that he wouldnt hold a referendum on the ULEZ as he knew he would be defeated, so its his way or no way.
He appears to be going the same way over the use of log burners, with other areas already following suit the same as they have done for the ULEZ zones.
if that isnt Citizen Kahn being a dictator then i dont know what is (other than that other guy in the Kremlin of course )2011 D4 XS 305 MY12 - gone but not forgotten

Any downside to waiting a bit to see if the expansion actually comes into effect? Looks like there is a fair amount of resistance brewing and there may have been no need to sell up. I already live within the ULEZ boundary but only use my disco 5-10 days per month basically to escape London. It has a lot of sentimental value (and no monetary value ) so refusing to sell.

Manchester clean air zone got put ‘under review’ because of protests. There was a huge facebook campaign against Burnham. He bottled out and the scheme which was due to come in last year, didn’t.
there is a big thread over on the Freelander 2 site with respect to London Mayor dictator, the link below is a great watch to see him squirm as he is interrogated over the imposition of the ULEZ and it's undemocratic and corrupt methods.

Wow ,unbelievable this dirty little individual thinks he's beyond any form of accountability , I have signed countless petitions against him and what he is pedaling in London ,because if he is allowed to get away with it,
it will just spread like a disease across the rest of UK councils to enforce these cashcow schemes , Because that's all it is about more revenue from the motorist the everyday people who are the backbone of this country , ,
We need to raise petitions against this behavior by using motorist forums like this and many many others on FB and the internet to gain signature's from the real people of this country .

Just because he is making unpopular decisions doesn't translate to corruption.
I'm no fan of Kahn but I don't see anything he has done as corrupt.
Don't forget there is a whole executive around him providing advice including lawyers.D4 HSE EU6 (Known as Jeeves)

I'm not a fan of the ULEZ but remember low emission zones started before Mr Khan became mayor.
Also lung disease is becoming a major killer and vehicles pumping particulates into the air in densely.populated areas can't be a good thing.Just 'cause you got the power... that don't mean you got the right.

I was young at the time, but was there not a similarly hostile reaction to the removal of leaded petrol?
I suppose the difference then was the ability to convert the engines easily. I remember modifying my '69 Escort mk1 with hardened valve seats, in order to keep it going.
It's a shame no-one has come up with a way to modify our current fleet to meet the ULEZ regs.2022 BMW i4 M50. Bought Oct 2022. 10,200 miles and counting...
