Front air suspension issue

Grab a drink of choice as this is possibly going to take a while to explain.

Right so ever since I have had my disco a month short of a year now it has had a problem with the front air suspension. With it dropping after a couple of hours while driving. Turn car off, turn car on all raises back up and all is well.

About half way through the year I replaced the radiator and found a big hole in the main black air line under the rad from the air receiver to the front valve block was fixed with a quick connect plastic air pipe fitting.

So now the car drives but the front suspension drops after 40mins or so turn off turn on all ok.

So I have noticed over last few months that passenger side always dropped lower or first. So yesterday I replaced the front air spring on the passenger side. It had some effect, minor improvement in lift time. With fuse 26 still in took a long time to go down overnight didn’t move much, take out fuse 26 this morning and leave for 1 hour. Front completely collapsed. So I rebuild valve block. Big improvement in front air suspension response time. Take out fuse 26 and after an hour front suspension is completely collapsed.

Running out of ideas now. Can’t find any more leaks on the lines up to the back of passenger footwell. Is there something obvious I’m missing or should look at next.

Getting a tad frustrated now.

Before people say it’s taken a while to get round to as the car isn’t used too much as I’m off shore a lot.

If its dropping with F26 pulled then it has to be a leak, there's nothing else it can be.

Aye that’s a given but source of the leak is the question and is there anywhere know for leaking besides the places that I have either found or overhauled.

A spray bottle with a high foam detergent and water mixture will help. there are many 'usual suspects' to the point of 'anything' may be leaking once the vehicle reaches a certain age. Sorry but there is no magic fix for this, just good old-fashioned fault finding.

Yep been through all that done it no luck unfortunately all given a good spray down and check with mirrors etc and bare hands run over it with wet fingers. Unless the leak is further back on the main line but seems unlikely no hissing or noise and everything up to the springs is good including them and the valve block.

Then maybe it's the front valve block - fitting new seals can be hit or miss, it all depends if any desiccant has escaped the filter/drier and scored the bores. Personally I've never wasted my time (and customers money) fitting seals, replacing the valve block has always been a 100% fix.

Desiccant would that look like tiny flecks of orange glass like material by any chance? Found some of that in the valve block when I disassembled it and when I disassembled the middle valve there was some scoring on the aluminium barrel.

Yeah was worth a shot for me it’s just my time I’m wasting.

When the (old) desiccant cartridge is under pressure, it swells up and small desiccants can flow past the edge of the filter. Therefore, only a internal filter with a rubber edge should be installed. For diameter compensation and to seal.
