Bonnet struts in winter ?
Hello I was wondering if anyone has had the same problem as me just been out to check under the bonnet for a few levels oil & water etc and found that the struts wont hold the bonnet up they were working fine a few weeks back when the weather was warmer I was wondering if its the temperature affecting ? them its been very cold the last week (west yorkshire )
if nobody else`s have suffered it looks like time for some new ones

Need replacing. They seem to just survive in the warmer weather, but when it's this cold they fail. Get some new ones Richard

Mine had an issue this morning but I think that was due to the weight of the snow
I want to see the sweets before I get into your windowless van... I'm not stupid!

AF do heavy duty ones for the boot which have a lot more oommppff, just be careful not to catch your chin/head as it opens (ask me how I know )I want to see the sweets before I get into your windowless van... I'm not stupid!

The charger was because it was down to -13 here at the weekend and it's a balmy -8 here now , still needed to do the boiling water on the sensor trick today to get her started (first time she hasn't started first time )
Mines booked in for new glow plugs on Friday with our very own Disco Mikey, along with new belts and oil pump, full service and anything else she needs I want to see the sweets before I get into your windowless van... I'm not stupid!

I had
Front & Rear Belts
New Idler Pulleys
Front & Rear Tensioners
Oil Pump
Crank Bolt
Crank Oil Seal.
New Water Pump
Aux Belt
Antifreeze
New Aux belt tensioner
all fitted by Flack and a fine job he did too as well as being a thoroughly nice fella we had a nice chat about photography while he worked
I`m going to find someone to have a go at the glowplugs or have a look myself just to test for any movement

So are the AF ones a bad idea if you don’t have a ladder on the tailgate? Buying normal ones seems a wasted opportunity to buy something “heavy duty” for the Land Rover!
