Discovery 3 Brake Problems

Hi All
I have recently replaced the servo and master cylinder and the vacuum line using the V8 servo. Also upgraded the front discs and pads to the larger version and the same on the rear including new calipers and back plates and parking shoes.
This was done as the brakes were atrocious and I found about a pint of oil in the servo so did the whole job to try and get a better pedal and brakes I could have some confidence in.
I also checked the vacuum which measured 1 bar.
After repeated bleeding with and without a pressure bleed and then with an icarsoft v2 to bleed the abs pump we got a complete bubble/air free system.
So today having refitted everything and having a hard pedal without the engine servo involved I went out to bed the parking brakes in and found the pedal with engine running was worse than when I started hardly any pedal which disappears quite quickly to the floor.Even when you build up pressure with pumping the car creeps to a stop with a lot of leg pressure, its certainly not driveable.
Now I was a trained tech back in the day so know my way around old technology and I have watched and read countless posts and videos on the notorious brake problems with the D3 but this has me stumped and having spent a lot of quids and time I am now Big Cry Big Cry
I am hoping some of you more knowledgeable forum members can give me some guidance before I dump it over a cliff!

I’d you let air in between the servo and abs unit you will need to use an electronic tool to help bleed the air out.

Or maybe just do that anyway and use a pressure bleeder

Edit Oh you did that

Hi
yes purchased the icarsoft thinking that must be the problem but alas still left with the same pedal and I have to say the scanner wasnt that intuitive didnt activate the abs on the first bled rear left but did it on the other 3 corners really strange.
At my wits end here!
Hope a few more members have some input, appreciate its pre bank holiday so not the best time to post but I need to try to identify the problem if I can.
Thanks for your input though

Hi

Apologises but may i ask a daft question plse

As you’ve fitted a larger servo would u need to fit a larger vacuum pump or is the original one still good enough to work with the V8 servo plse

Plus know the brake fluid is supposed to be class 6 , can it make much difference if it’s not used plse

Once again hope u didn’t mind me asking , many thks

Really Hope u find the solution

Ps, personally used one of these when I bled all my brakes with great results

Hi. It’s a genuine dealer upgrade to just fit bigger servo these days
They do connect up the other vacuum port and change it’s spring. Which is all part of the recall.

The fluid grade shouldn’t effect normal braking

Hi Pete K
I did read about replacing the ball and spring on the vacuum pump but it was pulling one bar so thought it was operating ok.
Could you explain the "connecting the other port" you mentioned as there are two ports on top and both are connected so a bit confused!
Appreciate the response

The original way was one pipe between the pump and servo.

Part of the recall mod, was to change the spring and connect 2 pipes up from the pump , via a one way valve to the servo.

If you look at engine pictures you will see the difference.

Hi
Ok see what you mean, yes I do have the double connecting vac pipe fitted and was a new pipe just to make sure I had covered all the angles

And to answer the other question fluid should be Dot4 and the larger servo is fine with the normal master cylinder.
