Sluggish and smokey...

Hi all

My Discovery 3 is now difficult to pull away and takes a few attempts to get off my slightly inclined driveway. I'm having to press the accelerator more to get it moving then when above 2000 revs it surges forward and lots of smoke out the back.

IID tool shows code "P029E-00 (2F) Cylinder 2 balance - fuel trim at maximum limit."

Looking at EGR activity shows as per the attached pictures. The two are at idle and at 2000RPM.

I have an EGR blanking kit on standby..

Intercooler pipe doesn't appear to be split.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks Greg.

I just noticed that picture isn't too clear.

Top left is EGR throttle command and to it's right is EGR throttle position.
Next row is EGR valve 0 command then EGR valve position - bank 0
bottom row is EGR valve 1 command and to it's right is EGR valve position - bank 1

Also, RPM on second picture didn't seem to register it was on 2000RPM...

When you blank it, refit the pipework incase the MOT tester has a look. It happened to me at Corsham tyres. I just refitted the pipes over the blanks and represented Thumbs Up

Definitely leave the pipes in Smile drop the blanks in-line and remove the butterfly valve. If it’s younger than 2007 reg you’d need a code change so the ecu ignores the egr values going forward but it’s a simple task

You're both correct, vehicles younger than 2007 = post 2007

Censored , my sockets are too fat to get on to all the engine block bolts. Need to source slimmer sockets. I got one off from each side so part way there. I also got one of the torx screws out from each side at the top end of the EGR pipes. Again, need a slimmer tool to get to the bottom ones.

Cheers for the help so far folks. It's given me the courage to get on and do the job.
