D3 Chassis Corrosion Question...

Hello All.

Quick question, and hopefully some advise from people who have been down this road:

I have a 2005 D3 HSE, just been through MOT and passed with no issues, however there were advisories.
One was the corrosion on sills, the other was corrosion on chassis.

My questions are whether this is a normal issue on these older D3's and nothing to worry about, or if this should be dealt with to prevent further degradation? If the latter, are there any people who would be best to discuss this with and have the issue dealt with.

Thanks in advance.

Even the new ones at dealerships had rust on the chassis back in 2005, the steel is quite thick luckily.
I wire brushed mine then used a good quality rust conveter then finally used a good quality chassis paint simular to Dintrol and its still good four years later

Plus 1 ^^^

used dinitrol and likewise is still in the same conditions some 4-5 x years later , must confess the prep took the longest , got some lances for inside the chassis and inside the body underneath etc , there’s plenty of drain holes on the chassis so can see it coming out as u inject it in

Started off using my karcher then steam cleaned inside and out of the chassis and underbody , then removed all the inner plastic wheel arch liners etc

https://www.dinitroldirect.com/

Know it’s best to shop around and plenty of us to always help for advice

Few pics of mine so indeed can see how effective it is , plus always handy getting an old plastic sheet to lay down on the ground , also not wishing to teach u how to suck eggs but disposable overalls and gloves are a good investment

Mines also a 2005 , sills are in perfect condition, often wonder if having sidesteps can cause water to be trapped leading to rust , so instead of steps I fitted rock sliders fitted on my D3

Hope that also helps

Mine had surface rust where the step brackets were fitted, i cleaned them right back to good steel and treated them with rust converter, then a few good coats of Hammerite.. i also sprayed wax oil inside.
