D3 harder to start
Hi all my 2005 D3 2.7 has been taking longer to start spinning over more when started after a day or more . Subsequent starts are ok . Don’t think it’s glo plugs as not lumpy when it does go . Seems more like fuel issue . Have injector 5 cylinder 3 on minimum trim level , Thinking this could be reason or lpfp maybe leaking back ? Changed fuel filter no difference, thanks for any input . Nick

Is it just on cold startup or does it happen when engine is warm too?

Thanks for replies pretty positive it’s not battery spins over fast , also doesn’t seem temperature related more how long it’s been left .

If the battery has been tested I would say it is Glow Plugs - an easy way to check is to disconnect the temp sender under the bonnet so the car thinks it is hotter than it is, if it starts easily it is the glow plugs not doing their job. When the car is cold, the ECU thinks the glow plugs are going to heat the chamber to allow for an easy start it changes the fuel mixture to allow for this. If the car is already hot this doesnt happen. So if the car can start easily with the sensor unplugged it points towards glow plugs being inoperable.Must stop buying shiny toys....

Tried the fuel test nipple for fuel under the bonnet at the rear of the engine?
There is a guide on here somewhere.

Yeah did that when changing fuel filter , plenty of fuel coming through but obviously may not be enough pressure or I’m thinking may be leaking back and taking time to prime again after not started for day or so

Do have injector 5 cylinder 3 on minimum trim level but obviously would like confirmation before replacing expensive injectors

I would still be testing the glowplugs even if it just rules them out.

The glow plug are likely to be faulty anyway but not the cause.
They only seam to be important around 0°C despite the design to use them alot.
If you have an injector ballance issue, then I would look there and fuel pumps
