Which torque wrench to buy?

I presume a demogorgon has taken a liking to my old torque wrench as it is now entirely missing and probably somewhere in the Upside-Down. The result of which is that I now need to replace it.

Is there a general consensus of the best brand? I have the smaller ranges up to about 60nm but need one to go from thereabouts all the way up to 200+ nm.

Any advice? And are there bolts on a D3 that require even higher ranges?

Thanks.

Get a Halfords trade card if you haven’t got one already.

Their Professional range of tools are good value and more than fine for the occasional diy use.

The Halfords Pro range are very good quality.

I myself have the Teng and Norbar in my cabinet and very good they are too.

Just a reminder, although i'm sure most already know this but i have come across some, that when you have used your torque wrench, to unwind it down to zero again otherwise over time the accuracy starts to fail.

Thanks. I bought the Halfords Pro socket set about 10 years ago thinking it was cheap enough at £200 that I would replace it with a decent set when I could afford it. So far, not needed to! Impressed with their stuff but I was hesitant over a tool that was a little more precision-engineered.

My brother fixed jet engines for BA in an earlier life and he swears by Facom tools but their 200nm wrench is over £650, so that isn't going yo find its way into my 'box.

If i remember correctly, the Halfords torque wrenches are made by Norbar.
This was brought to my attention many many years ago, although it may have changed.

^Is that a good or bad thing?

I have only used mine for wheel nuts since buying it. It replaced a cheapy from Machine mart that broke.

Norbar are a very good make and used in the trade - a very old established firm known for their torque wrenches.

Didn’t realise they were that much! Might look after mine a bit better - it’s somewhere in the back of the Disco ready for the next puncture!
