My parking brake won't hold the car at traffic lights if left in drive, is that normal or should I check the adjustment?

That is exactly my point, you simply cannot bed in parking brake shoes by applying them a few times.

I assume you realise that when the epb is applied whilst the vehicle is moving it also applies the service brakes? and if anyone thinks the handbrake shoes alone can stop a discovery travelling at speed Mr. Green

It’s usual practice to fit new discs and pads at the same time as parking brake shoes, so you are not only bedding the park brake shoes into the drums but also bedding the pads into the discs when following Bodseys instructions. There is also the slight risk of contamination whist fitting pads and or discs following the bedding-in instructions will burn this off, I always do a similar procedure after fitting new pads and/or discs.

Hope the OP gets it sorted. What is the bedding in procedure?

The bedding in procedure can be found in Bodsys Brake Bible.

https://media.disco3.co.uk/gallery/albums/...ssPics.pdf

I also found it described in a “Pagid Technical Tip”, Pagid being the make of the disintegrated brake shoes.

Did you follow the same bedding in instructions after fitting the second set?- if so did they also disintegrate? Laughing if obviously they didn’t point this out to Mr ECP manager Thumbs Up

Check adjustment annually, once they are adjusted correctly it is rare they need adjusting again.

A strip and clean/lube every 2nd year wont hurt either.
