Converting back to air suspension from coils |
|
Hello Everyone,
I am looking to convert my vehicle back to air suspension after it was converted to coil springs. All components were left in and working when removed. It was a Dunlop kit, the module was also fitted. I was wondering if it’s just as simple as removing the springs and module or will the ride level control module need reflashing or the CCF updating to tell the vehicle it’s back on air?

It may well need some software work to re enable the EAS system, depends how it has been removed
Then, you'll get some fault codes which will lead you to find out why the EAS was removed in the first place My D3 Build Thread

The vehicle EAS was all working, the price of a full set of shocks and an air tank that was leaking outweighed the price to convert to springs. However the adaptability and ride comfort of the air suspension are now wanted. I merely thought that the Dunlop spring module fed the RLM false readings to keep the EAS system happy however I am thinking it could have possibly changed something in the CCF to tell the car it hasn’t got EAS installed. The module has been removed, and a red suspension light is illuminated. But when I plug in to the obd port with an Autel I get no communication with the ride level control module which it spoke to before it was converted.

Thanks! I thought it would be nice to ease myself in with an easy one. I’ll keep it updated as to what I find. And if anyone has any suggestions please let me know

I've just swapped mine and it was easy enough. Just removed the middle, put the wiring back in to the OBD port, fitted air struts all good. It did need a new compressor and reservoir, but that's it up to now. No programming required just recalibrate tge suspension. Plus sold the coils and module for £350. I think I’ve found out why the suspension was converted 😂 You just had to say it. 12v at compressor relay but 0v at compressor plug.
