Sunroof stuck open, Reset routine not working

After trying to reset the sunroof using the switch hold down wait 20 seconds. That didn't work for me,
So I guess I start checking. Fuses. All fuses good, I heard no relay noise, I assume it is working?
Next, I guess I try to track down if/where the 12volts for it are.

The plan is to check the switch first. Checked 12v at the switch plug, but no charge.

The short term I guess is to get it closed due to upcoming rain in a couple of days. i know that pin #6 on the control module can be grounded to manually shut it if the motors or said control is not the issue.
Another funky situation is that suddenly I have a parasitic draw. The battery went flat after a week of no starting only.
Brand new battery, Just bought cause the last one went dead as well.

Sunroof module is in the rear overhead console. Attached is an excerpt of the pin diagram for the motor and module.

One of the notes says you are SOL for manually closing if the motor is dead.

Figred So.

Thanks for the information, couldn't see the instructions but I have the manual to dive into, I guess. Didn't know if there was any workaround.
Now I know. Rain for the week and weekend so tarped and waiting for a dry day.

When i was having issues i found that it took longer then 20 seconds for the reset to work, hold the button down until it moves.

ANd now...

Now the key fob doesn't work. So had to use the key to gain access.

Going to tear it all apart on the weekend. Also just got my hubs in so it might be a two weekend deal.

So dug into the electric

So this weekend I tore apart the interior of the car in relation to removing the headliner to try to Jerry Rig a ground to manually close the sunroof.
I decided to look into the footwell problem and wound up taking both kick plates and exposing the wiring harness underneath the footwells.

I found two splices that had completely disintegrated, and one very corroded under its blue tape. You would think they would at least attempt to seal these splices. But no.

So re[aired those and the sunroof went back to working. Will probably disconnect it so this does not happen again. Not sure right now too many other issues.

Still have the key issue, which I had hoped would have been fixed like the sunroof, but it did not work. So no FOB functions, only unlock and start manually until I can sort this out.

While I have everything apart basically I am going to figure out where this leak is and look into all the other wires I can possibly inspect, as well as possible CBJ removal if warranted.

Good work finding the sunroof issue...

Since you had that electric issue, if your wiring is wet under the floor trim, this might be your next soltion:
I had fob issues, and did this ....it worked a treat.

Congrats on finding your problem.

Sounds like now would be a great time to change the sunroof drain lines. Even when closed, some water gets past the roof. They probably leaked in the past and that’s why you’ve got splices and corroded wires.

If you have any future inkling for Aux lights, dash cams, etc you’ve got great access now to run wires. If you are planning to run a roof rack and heavy loads, you could also reinforce your rack mounts…

Water TEst Coming

So I had tested all of the drains, well the front tubes recently. Also will run the weed eater line down the fronts again, but I never could find the rear drains.
I only have the pillars pulled, as far as taking out the headliner, but you are probably right, in that I should just pull the SOB's.

We have 3 days of rain forecasted this week, and as I can't get back to it until the weekend, I will have a great test case coming and will know if the leak was the open Sunroof or the drains/other leaks somewhere.
I have done all the splicing actually found two other splices that I repaired as well. As far as the Key if one of these was for the charging function the key fob is most likely out of charge. I have other issues with it as well, so it's doing a lot of sitting right now as it is drivetrain related and I cannot run it around for hours waiting for a charge.

I'll try a hard reset tonight as daylight ran out last night for it, as well as my old bones.
Thanks for the info

Sorted,...Sort Of

OK, so replaced all of the splices in the car NAS, both footwells. Got the sunroof to close, however, it will not open now.
Will revisit after I get into the rear axle CV's and bearings.
Will use the press at work during the week to try to get the driver's side rear drive axle replaced as I think that is where the knocking is originating.

I will go ahead and take the removed headliner to an upholstery shop and do any work that is needed while that is out.
REbuilding the transfer case, Bearings, and seals, I am thinking hard about the chain and clutch packs, but I don't have the budget right now. I guess it could wait until the end of May when I will have some freed-up cash to purchase the chain and clutches.

Thanks for the input. Anything I should check or do? while I have the headliner out?
I've checked and flipped all of the roof drains, by flipped I mean I flipped the tubes 180 so that the smaller end is now on the barb fitting that comes off the sunroof. Also installed some fuel line clamps on any that seemed loose. That pipes and joints looked fine, but there was a mangled front pass drain end, and a chewed-up one in the back. Only have the one behind the CJB for R/R. Also, added a different type tube to go at the rear corners where the tube goes around the rear door frame as I had some kinked tube there?
