Electric seats

Hi,

I've just bought an S model D3 which has heated non electric seats and I wondered if I'd be able to fit electric memory seats without having to bypass the memory module. It's a little frustrating as I'd assumed it'd simply be a case of updating settings in the ccf!?!

Has anyone actually retrofitted electric seats and got them to work? From the threads I've read it seems not. I saw Gstuarts solution, which may be an option.

Any advice appreciated.

I think the key is that the red LIN BUS wire needs connecting up.
I think this gets forgot.

Most retrofitted seat motors move in bursts.
Motor moves 1cm and stops.

Thanks Pete. I don't suppose you have a wiring diagram do you? Could splice into this wire somewhere?

Thanks for the information. Wouldn't there be several different LIN buses and wouldn't the seat module need to connect into the appropriate one for the seat, mirrors etc functionality? Would the LIN bus for the rain sensor be the right one? Are there any schematics that show how they're wired?

Thanks again for your help.

I believe they are all joined.

Eg the sunroof and rain are on the same one for example
I think I saw the seat connected to it also

I've just been reading another post which had the wiring diagram, and I agree it does appear they join at SJ45, I noticed you were on that thread too. I'm hoping to get into a D3 that's being stripped and remove the wiring for the memory seat, that way I can see what goes where, hopefully, then be able to replicate it in my car. In fairness it'd probably be easier to sell this car and buy a HSE, I've had it less than a week!

I think you would struggle to see where the red wire goes in the mass of wires,
(however there is a grey? bare wire in the passenger footwell of a HSE which could be a clue to the location of the red, if you follow it.

You could take a continuity tester, and check the red seat wire, does go to one of the red wires on the A pillar.
Don't know if you have the correct red wire on your A pillar, on your model. Maybe worth a look.

There will probably be a red wire for the FBH on a 2005.

You will probably need to edit the CCF file with a GAP IID to state memory seats fitted.

The wiring loom would be a benefit if you wanted memory mirrors, including door loom
