be worth doing some cursiory checks under the steering colum to ensure motors/sensors plugged in,
to ensure someone hasn't fitted a later replacement column.
I do recall there being issues with the memory module under the seat, where an IC wasn't fitted, and caused the steering adjustment not to work

yep ok, maybe i need to take it apart then and inspect the individual comnponants or check if there is anything happening to the control unit when i press the switch.

I think the coloured panel under the steering just pulls off (from bottom?).
Should be enough to see motors and plugs
