What remap did you get ?

TBH I don't know. Shocked

The guy at the dealers sorted it out, a friend of a friend and all that, I know he came from Carlisle way so maybe Turbochip?

Feels well though, looking forward to towing the caravan.

Make sure you check that everything works before you drive away ie aircon.Check over the bodywork and wheels.I agreed to buy a D3 from a very well known chain of LR dealers.I test drove the vehicle and agreed on the price. They said the car had to go through the workshop for a check and valet (it was a 5 month old ex-demo with 3000 on the clock).I went for lunch and when I came back the salesman was busy so to kill time I wandered over to my newly valeted D3 and noticed that the dealer had switched the wheels and tyres with some that were scratched, and the tyres were marked on the side walls probably because of off road use. They had tried to cover the marks with tyre paint!
So I approached the salesman who said no problem they could sort it out.I replied that I did not want to buy from them and called off the deal.

I rang the dealer, the remap is from a guy who worked for Prodrive, it gave me 45bhp and 120nm extra torque Very Happy . It feels nippy now but I never drove it much before the remap.

...like the idea of that. Does anyone know how fuel consumption is affected, and what about insurance premiums? Do insurance companies understand these mods?

Cheers,

Rob

Supposed to get up to 7% better fuel consumption, rang my insurance to enquire and they wanted extra £100 for 6 months. Shocked
I spoke to the guy at LR garage and he has loads done and basically said no one tells the insurance companies.

I think you'll find that most of the people who have the re-maps done on this forum DO tell their insurance company.

You've just forked out 30-40k fortune on a new car and you're worried about £200 a year.....?
It HAS to be worth it just for the extra peace of mind that you've given the ins co all the information & if you are unlucky enough to have to claim, then they have no way to wriggle out of it........

I think you're mad if you don't tell them & pay the extra.......

Additionally, although your LR dealer arranged for the remap, if you go to another dealer & tell them that you have a re-map, they may well mark your LR service record and engine faults may not be covered under warranty.

LR recently had a clamp-down on dealers that were putting on re-maps & making warranty claims for items that MAY have been down to the re-map.......

So, make sure your Ins co know, but make sure you keep it quiet from another dealer Thumbs Up

Agree with your points but its a 54 reg isn't it? So warranty and value figures may vary from his actual. Agree with the principle though... Thumbs Up

They won't be paid out either if they have a claim, don't not tell them!
