Definitely the rear end is worse, spare wheel area etc.

Yes, mine wasnt much different to that. Paint simply isnt as good after they took the bad stuff out!!
 2013 Baltic Blue D4 - a balance between family car and camping machine - trying to not bladder it with stuff I dont need!
2008 FLR2 - bit travelled and surprisingly good - exchanged for above
1967 S2a SWB - the old girl - current, original and much loved
1998 - Td5 overlander - much travelled and very much missed
1996 - 300Tdi 110 overlander - much travelled and much missed
1998 - FLR 1 td4 - my first Civvy Land Rover!

Well worth doing imho.

This was the worst area on mine, borderline rot . There were also some bad bits behind the plastic sill trim. Full size pics.

I ground it right back to bare metal, zinc coated, painted and dinitrol.

This is what it looks like with the muck cleaned off, overall they hold up well compared to previous gen of landys. Watch out where the rear arch meets the sill, behind the liner. inches and inches of muck will get stuck here though on mine, the paint held up back just fine.

Land rover do actually sort of underseal some of it, not sure what with or why.

Had a right dog of a D4 in the workshop yesterday MY11 68000mls outside looked fine underneath was a different story failed the MOT because the metal was so thin as you can see it already had previous welding repairs.
