Bought brand new tyres off eBay but all have puncture repair
Seeking opinion I purchased four new wheels and tyres (255 20) for my LR off eBay but they are have puncture repairs. Tyres still have lines on but guy said this happens as new cars get puncture in car showrooms.
I don’t think they are safe but I want the wheels. Would you reject them as sold ‘as new’ he just forgot to mention the repairs.

Punctures in showrooms? I've never heard of that before.
Edit, those are repairs, not moulding sprues.
Edit again, could it have been malicious damage on new vehicles at a dealer?Richard

none of the tell-tale "hairs" of rubber, that unused tyres have, anywhere ?
what do the insides look like ?

Bit higher res, might help seeing the base of the “plugs”.

Could be malicious damage I guess - certainly very strange.
I just don’t feel four tyres with puncture repairs would be safe.
Rather send back and buy new tyres for piece of mind.
I can see inside tyres without taking them off which I haven’t done yet.
What would a new 255 55 r20 with puncture be worth ?

If the puncture repairs have been done properly, they'll give you no trouble. But, you didn't have them done so I guess you don't really know.Richard

Just a few questions.
Tyre make and type?
Straight off a factory delivery?
“Plugs” on all 4 tyres?
“Plugs” in the same place on tyres, say relative to text on outside?
What type of garage/dealer/seller?

Plugs in different places on tyres.
Hard to know any history as I didn’t source them direct but they may well be off four different cars.
All Pirelli LR branded 255 55 20
I need to offer to keep wheels but send tyres back.
Even then two new wheels have dings - are these safe ?

It would help form an opinion if you could provide a link to the original Ebay for sale listing. Obviously the punctures would affect the asking price!

The damage to the inner side of the rims wouldn’t worry me, looks like they have been laid down carelessly and could have occurred at any point from when the wheel was made. They could well have fitted to the car in the factory like that, remember this is LR and there will be a “that’ll do, the dealer can sort that if the end customer notices” attitude.
If I had them, both tyres and rims as is, I’d take them to my local tyre place for him to have a look at and if he thinks it’s OK then I’d use them. I’ve used repaired tyres a fair few times, normally repairs needed after the abuse I’ve given the tyres off-roading, and all have lived out their lives until the tread depth became an issue. I even ran one with an emergency only plug in it from a puncture in the Tunisian desert for a lot longer than SWMBO would have liked. Had she known!
