Hi I’m looking to install a leisure battery in the aux battery box connected with the t max duel battery charger. But my main question is can I run my solar panel ( with controller) straight to the leisure battery without causing any trouble to the main starter battery or car system . If that makes sense cheers.

No you will need to run via a solar charger or other charge controller. Have a look at Victron or even a Dc Dc charger like Ctek 250se. Loads of different options and articles around. RLD CB Bracket
RLD Spare Wheel Protector
RLD Sump Protector
ProSpeed Compressor Cover

It always looks simple… t-max or other knock of from The IBS split-charger but it is more complicated if you want a thrustworthy system and real use of the dual battery…
Especially if you do NOT use the exact same batteries, as most of us do, since you need a auxillary battery as a second one and not a starter…
As degarside says… for me it is Dc dc charger for me.. i bought a redarc BCDC1225D
Note: i had a IBS split charge system… with optima auxiliary battery, with use of a Snowmaster fridge last summer and solar panel.. i experienced its disadvantages…
With the redarc, full battery capacity available, with the same batteries…as in my former split charge setup..
Perfect for different batteries and solarpanel use…. Not cheap though…. Order one from australia, good offers there…
Edit: added “as in my former Split charge setup” Best regards
Harold

yes. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

I hd a T-Max linked to an Odessy battery and the main starter battery for 7+ years. I used to just connect a solar panel to the Odessy battery with croc clips when camping and get on with life. No problems and no issues. D4 HSE EU6 (Known as Jeeves)

If the question was meant purely: can i do it, wil it do no harm… well yes you can do it..
More charging related… and is it a good effecient setup? .It all depends on what you want and need regarding battery use and battery life..
If you need it for just day trips, a basic setup with spiltcharge will do, if you want a serious fridge running on overlanding trips and not drive, everyday the whole day at 60 mls / hour or more…. Or the sun is not everyday a fullpower, or your solarpanel is not very big, or you use different type’s of batteries…. You will need a DC to DC charger imho…. To make the most of it…
I learned the harder way…. And warm beer on the third day … Best regards
