Hell, you mean to say I was right? I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

If in Neutral though don't you have to put your foot on the brake to engage reverse? Might be a little late by the time it's engaged.
HDC works in Neutral as well though
Right, so a WEEK-DAY winch training session. Who else is up for it? Bodsys Brake Bible

Bodsy Quote:Not a big do about nothing DW
Sorry Bodsy , wasn't meant to appear confrontational , my comment put into context was in relation to the man in question Sonic and his description of how it actually was on the ground,
Quote:1 It was plasma so i felt comfortable with the situation
2 What the photo can not show is that the vehicle was holding on its own brakes, and i was about to rewind
the rope to prevent it spooling all on one side causing damage

Bloody hell, I go to work at 0730 this morning and come back to all this !!!!
1) TR was rock crawl
2) gear 1
3) car was holding its own so sliding all the way down the hill wasnt going to be a problem if the rope broke
4) Sonic was just momentarily checking rope. ( still photo takes seconds/minutes to look at but the photo is a small snapshot of time
5) fairlead roller cos I used to have steel rope. Also works very well as a parking sensor..
6) But yes, I'm no expert and would welcome some training
Had the rope snapped I would have slammed it into reverse and attempted a "J" turn 8) 8) Duncan

I have seen a D3 winching with a plasma that had melted because of the heat generated by the electric winch.
So for me a 2.7t Disco3 + Electric Winch = lots of heat + Plasma = No No No.
The 110s I have do have plasma's, the winches run cooler or have a thermal cutouts. In the Beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

I guess you have to winch slower wioth plasma then and give the winch time to cool.
I'm still not keen on steel if it breaks and comes slicing through the front windscreen. Iv seen that happen and its scary Duncan
