Coming back to wheels & tyres, it was proved that the super single wide wheels & tyres fitted to trucks increased fuel consumption.
However, when the increase in tyre longevity and wear was taken into account, the overall increase in costs were minimal.
Stats from one side of an argument, can if looked at taking the 'bigger picture' into account, prove inconclusive.

Can get technical but for me it was just a point of curiosity and others people's thoughts.
I have seen and read many theories on this forum regarding wheel sizes and types of tyres to use and all those interested had very different returns on mpg even though they had exactly the same D3 tyres and wheel sizes, there are so many variables to take into consideration its very difficult to get a clear picture of true mpg.
If my stays at 25mpg more than happy, as somebody said its nearly 3 ton in weight I do have a heavy boot and use the power as intended its great fun even at my 66 years of age.
