"Limp mode" after FBH activation |
|
Hi all, having activated my FBH via remote for the first time, after approx. 20 mins, on starting the engine, it appeared to go into a "limp mode".
The engine sat around 750 - 1000 rpm, with no accelerator response.
After approx. 1 minute the engine appeared to go into a normal mode, by raised rpm and being able to use accelerator.
Would this be a case of a battery not holding its charge, or something else ? you need the bad times to appreciate the good..........

Did the FBH deffo run, did you hear it running and see the smoke from the NSF wheel arch?
Any lights on the dash?
How many times did the engine turn over before starting?
Is it possible the FBH did not start?

Admiral, yes the FBH remote which I had installed the previous day, came on and was working a 100%.
The engine started on the first turn, but went straight into the "limp mode" that I had described.
aja4x4, just pulled out the receipt for my Bosch battery, purchased Feb '18, nearly 3 yr old.....could be the problem ?
will check the dash lights again on start up in morning....... you need the bad times to appreciate the good..........

Read fault codes would be the best thing to do

I've had exactly the same issue.
I think it's drawing the battery down. As soon as its run for a few mins and the alternator has bumped it back up, it's OK.
I'm pretty sure my battery is OK as well.
I'm planning on checking the charging volts when I can as I'm wondering if its not quite topping or outputting fully to get the battery up that extra half a volt or so which would make the difference.
I'm going to take a reading before I attempt to start as well to see what 15 or 30 mins use does compared to what I started at.
Your symptoms are exactly the same as mine. Battery light flashing for a min.. No throttle etc
