| Gearbox Fault, HDC not available, P1707, U0402 |

the rotary knob comes up when i start the car but now the 2 messages come up & the control will turn but not go into any gear.
it started a while ago, occasionally bringing up gearbox fault & not going into gear, then clearing after a couple of tries.
I put a new battery on as the other one finally died a couple of weeks ago.
Ii put a new brake switch on yesterday as that was a possible cause but no.
It had a gearbox flush & service last year, didn't make it any better, in fact now when cold it can baulk for a second or two between gears when you accelerate hard
I put an icarsoft obd reader on it & it brought up the above codes, I cleared them but they are back.
apparently the rotary unit can go but i don't know about it or what to look for to buy another.

LATEST UPDATE
i was playing with the icarsoft live data settings, one of the readings was paddle shift so i pulled the downshift one & it cleared itself & now works again?????????

AA man said it was paddle shift on steering wheel as not many use it on fault code ,but later it was the rotary dial which has known fault on vin numbers look on thread somewhere ...
