Hello:
I can tell you that in Russia there is the father of these repairs, his name is Dmitry Malofeev and he has a repair company: dedmotors.ru, they must have repaired about 1000 cars on the issue of crankshaft failure, and the attractive thing is their guarantee of "3 years or 70,000 km".
Dmitry continuously answers questions and gives opinions on the Russian club forum: lr-club.com under the name: "SVERLO", his email is: [email protected], he also has a channel on youtube, in which one of his videos explains the origin of the crankshaft failure.
Why all this introduction ?, The Russian company uses in its repairs the crankshaft of the attached photo (photo published by them), which they indicate corresponds to the original used in the engines and short blocks that cover the LR warranties. Well, judging by the photos of the sellers corresponds to the one marketed by island4x4 and the company autopost.co.uk that sells on ebay under the name aplandrover, in addition to other people's sales on ebay.
Finally, I can comment that Dmitry indicates that the crankshaft break is due to the wear of the bearings, especially nos. 2 and 3, which causes the crankshaft "to be whipped" during the turn, with it the accumulation of fatigue generated by the mixture of torsion and bending, finally breaks at the weakest point. Bearing wear is caused by lubrication deficiencies due to low oil pump pressure (switch to third generation product, FoMoCo in the casing), and loss of lubricant viscosity, caused by temperature increase over 100 degrees and changes very extensive oil runs (max. 7000 - 8000 km)

Click reply to the post you wish to respond. (opens reply page and script box) Click "choose photos" at the bottom of the script box, Your browser should open access to your desk top or other files. Click the relevant file where your image is stored. Click the image you want, then click "open". This will bring you back to this site reply page where you click "upload", The image/file will then appear below the script box. Then click on the image/file itself you have uploaded and it will appear in the script box.
Click "submit" and it's posted.
Hope this makes sense yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ
