Automatic Transmission Fluid Change

Hi, Apologies if this has been covered previously, but I'm new to this Forum, so only just finding my way around!

I've recently purchased a Disco 3, not averse to getting my hands dirty, where practical. And I'm looking to refresh the ATF and add some Dr. Tranny at the same time (found some helpful stuff on this in here).

My question is that in the Haynes manual, it states to run the vehicle through all of the gears before lowering; I was planning on getting the underside clearance, by driving up some ramps I have. Should I be lifting all the wheels off the floor to run it up through the gears, or is that something that I don't need to do when refilling the ATF, or just stick my foot on the brake (hard) and put into Drive etc. and not drive off the ramps till levels checked and happy?

Paul

it's more to do with when you check the level (which needs to be on flat ground)

No the wheels don't need to be turning, simply selecting all gears manually is enough

Thanks for that, I'm sort of lucky that my drive slopes down, and with the front on ramps, get something like level

I may have overstated the slope! It's a gently slope, seems to work without being extreme.

My drive has a slight slope too, I drive the front wheels onto railway sleepers to level it up.
