I found 17" or 18" much better than larger wheels on my D3.

If you are moving to down 18s then you won't be able to fit the V8 brake upgrade...
If you have 19s then you can do the upgrade and be able to stop a 2.5tonne beastie pretty sharpish... it's best upgrade I've done so far...
As others have said... belts, pump and oil changes, that'll soon limit your "extras" budget megaflush is a good idea as is changing the gearbox oil filter (made a huge difference to mine)..I want to see the sweets before I get into your windowless van... I'm not stupid!

Not sure if I have understood Nigel correctly but the V8 brake upgrade can be fitted with 18inch wheels, (not17), and is a good one. If not immediately certainly if/when you change discs. Then only extra parts needed are the caliper brackets.

The only thing I regret so far is calling the damn thing a truck.
It was not received well.

Just to confirm that the V8 brake upgrade (bigger discs and new caliper carriers) will fit with 18β rims. Will not fit with 17β rims. π2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

PS the snorkel will leave bolt holes in your wing and A-pillar... although you could repair with some nice blind grommets

That's not something I'd considered. I doubt that's something I will go for. I'm also nervous about a roof mounted light bar for the same reason. At least I can mount that to a roof rack though.
