Recommendations for Cornwall

Gents, looking to go to Cornwall and would be grateful for any recommendations. Large tent and will need the usual amenities - good shower block, electric hookup and so on

Thanks in advance.......

Rex

Dont stay at Chy Carne, just back from there

Very over crowded, poor hilly pitches, badly managed, noisy, dirty ablutions, and the 50p per 5 minute crap shower was a total Censored take. Wife couldn't get in to our normal spots.....Rant over...

As always the rest of Cornwall was great.

It all depends where in Cornwall you want. We stayed at Treloy just outside Newquay. Its a smallish site with a bar and pool, but entertainment which suits us. We spend more time off the site than on so its a good spot for Porth and Mawgan Porth beaches. Trevornick looks nice too more facilities but costs more too, but I would avoid Monkeytree.
If you have kids then I would recommend River Dart Country Park in Devon, my favourite campsite by a very long way.

Hi Rex,

Get in where you can bud - its heaving down here.

Visitor numbers off the charts.

Beachcombers in Hayle apparently very nice, or Polmanter in St Ives very popular.

Hope you have a nice time.

Dave

I was at Trevornik, Holywell just outside Newquay a couple of weeks ago.

good sized pitches, good shower blocks etc that were regularly cleaned. and it wasn't overcrowded. In fact it surprised me how summer normal it was, no huge crowds at all anywhere.

We didn't use the pool or facilities down there but the pool looked ok and well managed, and people commented on how good the pizza and chip shop was.

We went to a little pub down in Holywell which was pretty decent and a nice place right on the beach, and also to Smugglers Den just outside Cubert which was excellent as always.

Also you have to try football golf, its hilarious !!…. we went to one just outside St Austell and had a great few hours out for not very much money.

My sister works ar Trevornick and she said it was a decent site, but i haven't been there so didn't want to recommend.
We went to the Gulls Rock at Holywell, and the Smugglers Den and have to agree both were managing well. Tge Bowgie has had a massive makeover and its done well but list some of its charm, seems a bit clinical now and reminded me of a staff canteen. Everywhere we went seemed to be about the same as usual, other than one day I thought traffic seemed quieter if anything.

We stayed at Tregarton park for 2 weeks this August. It’s south of St Austel. Lovely clean site with a warm outdoor pool. Cheap take away service as well. Would defiantly return.
