The D3 has died!
A bit of a catastrophic failure at the weekend, and so I'm left with a wagon that is not economical to repair (for me).
It was an unfortunate alignment of a few things giving out at once, and we were very close to having an engine fire. Seems like it will need at least a new HP fuel pump and engine, which is no small job in terms of parts and labour costs.
2005 / 175K, so it's not done too bad. I'll be putting it up for sale as a non-runner for spares / repair / breaking in 9 posts time (need to be less of a lurker to get the post count up).

No warnings, a sudden loss of power, high rev noise, quick flick up (and back to normal) of the temp gauge. Just as we got to somewhere safe to stop, engine dies, a lot of smoke and a lot of steam.
We left it to cool, topped up (refilled) the coolant, but HP fuel pump was also shot, so no start, just diesel leaking out onto the floor.
Just one of those totally out of the blue things, on what was a previously very reliable and well maintained vehicle.

Sorry to hear this Dave and hope you can recoup some cost in either selling as a non-runner or breaking for parts.
