Oil Light Can't decide whether it's on or off.
My oil light came on the other day so I immediately pulled over, turned the car off and back on. The light went out. I took it in for a service and had the oil replaced etc. Then it was fine for a week but came on again. I've left it on the drive for now as I don't want to risk driving it. I'm thinking the pump is on it's way out but it only just had a pump 3.5 years ago along with timing belt. It's on the pump upgrade version too. Any advice for an average Joe would be great.

the green sticking out thing on the left front of the engine is the oil sensor.
On your drive, put a light between the oil wire and battery +
Recreate the problem and see if the new light also flickers. (instruments have been known to cause problems )
A more profesional way is to remove the sensor and fit a pressure gauge under the bonnet.
You can then see how close to the limit you are

Do you know if the pump fitted was an original FoMo Co, or a cheapie reproduction? If you can find this out it might provide some insight!yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

I would change the sensor first before looking to change pump etc. Over 50 years of driving I have had the oil light come on a few times and its always been the sender.

Any idea if it's a straight forward job to fit a pressure gauge. Is there a product on the market you would recommend that's compatible?

I'm going to try this first. Am I right in thinking this is the correct part number LR000281. It's giving me two options a 190HP 140KW and a 200HP 147KW.

It was done at Parkside garage so would imagine it would have been a genuine part. Doesn’t say on the paperwork though. I've added paperwork to thread if that helps?
