If it had been DSL I would have assumed 1 too many glasses of the red elixir.

At least with vino there are only 2 colours, at least here. Makes life much simpler. Whistle Whistle

Re that electrician, that’s the closest he’ll get to being a bright spark. Laughing

Years ago I had my joinery workshop rewired, my workmate said his soninlaw worked for the electricity board and he would do it as a weekend job. At least 10years later we had our regular sparkle over to sort out a problem, he said who the hell rewired! the wires were connected all to cock. My workmate said Oh my (X son in law by now) is colour blind. Exclamation Big Cry wondering why he got a job with the electric board?.

One of my lecturers used to jest "There are old electricians and there are colour blind electricians, but there aren't many old colour blind electricians."

Dean, I know my consumption of the red elixir and amber nectar has gone up in recent weeks however this week have been trying to get back to more sensible levels.

So not one extra glass last night, just tired and late at night. Should of read what I had typed before hitting the submit button.

Brendan ... i am the last person who would have a dig at anyone (apart from DSL, naturally Whistle ) who is enjoying a glass or three of anything. maybe I'd draw a line at a pint of neat peach schnapps.

I'm currently getting by on under 3 hrs sleep a night so I'm surprised I can even get anything right.

Enjoy life ... just stay safe !

Dean, feel free to have a friendly dig at me, no complaints from me, just expect the odd dig back. Whistle

If you are surviving on 3 hours sleep/night with your 'issues' you are either strong as an ox or completely knackered.

Now when I come home there were 2 cases of certain liquid, must admit I was surprised to see some of a rather pale colour. On the table is a 5 litre BIB of Shield Maiden Thumbs Up

Now talking of peach schnapps Barbara and I sealed a deal with a supplier over a glass of peach schnapps. Only at 10.30 am, but the sun was over the yard arm somewhere in the world Whistle

Which reminds me I could do with some scaffold boards

Now will DSL approve of Dark Corner Durif Shiraz?

Just finished a bottle (between 2 of us) and Thumbs Up

Surely the old UK 240 volt cable colouring was . . . .

Depends how far back one goes. In the days of rubber insulation, braided covers and lead sheathed cable nailed (with clips) to the surface of wall one got whatever colours the factory that made the cable chose. Remember plugs made from brass and wood?

Are you sure it was wood? There was a grade of bakelite iirc that felt like wood as it aged. And it burned slightly when overheated. And , like all bakelite I assume, smelled of fish when in that state.

Definately wood. Two pins that were same size as the small pins in the later larger of the two three pin round system. The smaller ones still in use for lights in hotel buildings, etc. I kept one and will go look for it as not much else to do.

the smaller ones are 5A round 3 pin lighting sockets and plugs - we have them for the side lamps in our lounge so that they all turn on from a single switch on the wall instead of having to turn them on individually. Thumbs Up
