Daresay you get the odd good one, hope your parents do, just wouldn’t bet my pension on it. Thumbs Up

What's the issue with them? Is it a quality issue or just not enjoying driving them etc.?

Honest query as I've only driven them for a day at a time as loan cars from my indie. I've quite liked them in that context but obviously it's not the same as living with one.

I’ve had numerous DS’s as loan cars since they first came out. I’ve always found them to be good for what they are. A tad pricy, but all LR vehicles are.

Hated my DS with a passion Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad still don’t like them, the whole interior feels like it was made from the plastic chocolate trays from a box of Milk Tray, the ride quality was awful, the car squeaked and rattled I’ve had a few since as loan cars and my opinion hasn’t changed.

My velar is suffering with corrosion on the brakes but apparently it’s not bad enough yet for a claim.

Yikes, quite a list if one has had a few of those issues. Shocked

Everyone knows that in regards to cars, "off road" means "at the garage". And everyone knows LR are very good at "off road"... Whistle Rolling with laughter

The brake problem was mentioned to me by main dealer technician. They’ve had a lot in with premature pitting and corrosion. Same applies to the XF as well apparently. He thought that although they were still Brembo, it was either a duff batch or they’d changed the composition.

Some part on the power steering system for the 2.0 is also rusting out and causing failure of the system. They, the main dealer, are replacing them under warranty, but as yet LR haven’t issued a safety recall. 😳

You can, they’ll still corrode though. Totally unacceptable, but they are being replaced under warranty, at least at the dealership where my FFRR is currently stuck at.

Isn't the software fix just a change in how often it reports dilution? Not a change to how much dilution occurs.

I believe going back to the twin turbo setup fixed the problem? So best to avoid the single turbo cars then?

That’s the theory amongst dealers at least.

It could be the reason why all new Defender engines are twin turbo?

So can I please confirm that while the last of the 3.0 SDV6 engines in the D4 was a sequential turbo with 180kw and 600nm, the first of the td6 engines in the D5s was a single turbo version of the 3.0V6 with 190kw and 600nm - while the later TD6 engines in the D5 was a sequential turbo version of the same engine with 225kw and 700nm?

Hello,
For info, I have a 2019 D5 with the SDV6, it’s a 306 bhp twin turbo as standard and drives like a dream. Not had any problems at all. I believe the single turbo TD6 did suffer with oil dilutions problems, whether it was a software glitch or actual dilution is open for debate. For me the SDV6 was the way forward. It was also the same engine in a D4 but that was a 255bhp version.

Yes, it looks like LR messed trying to put a single turbo engine in. Who knows why!

They should have just stuck with the twin turbo setup the D4 used, as per the newer D5s.
